Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis Greek pronunciation born October 1, 1969) is an American comedian, actor as well as a musician and writer. He was also a guest on Comedy Central Presents and hosted Late World With Zach on VH1. Galifianakis has been in films such as The Hangover trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010) and The Campaign (2012). He was also in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (2014) and Masterminds (2016). Galifianakis voiced characters in animated films such as Puss In Boots (2011) and The Lego Batman Movie (2017). He also voices Missing Link (2019) and Ron's Gone Wrong (2211). Galifianakis is the host of the Funny or Die website chat show Between Two Ferns. He was also a part of the FX series Baskets. In 2017 his nomination was for win the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actor for the Comedy Series. Zachary Knight Galifianakis, a North Carolina native, was born on the 1st of October 1969, in Wilkesboro. He is the child of Mary Frances (nee Cashion) and Harry Galifianakis, a heating oil seller. His mother is of Scottish-Irish and English heritage, while his paternal grandparents are Greek immigrants from Crete. He was baptized in the father's Greek Orthodox faith. He is the father of Merritt and a younger sister, and Greg the older brother. The cousin Nick Galifianakis is a Washington Post cartoonist and his uncle Nick Galifianakis is also a politician. Galifianakis was educated at Wilkes Central High School and then went on to North Carolina State University where he was a communications student. Galifianakis interned at a local radio station in college. He taught a waltz class in 1991 and he came into contact with Mary J. Blige. Galifianakis was the Saturday Night Live host for two weeks following his TV debut in Boston Common. He's said "I did work for Saturday Night Live for two weeks, and Britney Spears was host for a week while I was on it. Will Ferrell was going on part as bodyguard to protect her belly button. Will and I were planning to shrink Will down so that she could fit a belly button. ...she just stared at me when I explained the idea to her. Then she said, "Yeah that is funny."
