Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician is well-known for his tough-edged roles or humorous characters in action films. Together, they've appeared in films that grossed over $2.5 billion dollars. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955 in Idar-Oberstein (West Germany) to Marlene Kassel and David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point New Jersey), both of them living on an United States military base. The family moved to the U.S. soon after he was born. Willis was born in Penns Grove by his mother who worked for a bank, and his father, a welding employed in a factory and welder. Willis picked up an interest for the dramatic arts in high school, and was "discovered" whilst working in an establishment located in New York City and then was featured in several off-Broadway productions. One evening, Willis was bartending and was noticed by a casting director who was impressed by his character. He was looking for a bartender to play one small part in a film. Willis auditioned for a variety of film roles, but was not acknowledged. He was eventually offered the role as David Addison, a private eye, along with Cybill Shepherd in the romantic comedy show Moonlighting (1985). The sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is one of the highlights of his career. His humor-filled and wisecracking P.I. is often seen as a test run for his character John McClane, the hardboiled NYC detective in Die Hard (1988), that saw Willis combat a gang of brutal international thieves at the top of a Los Angeles skyscraper. He reprised the role of McClane in the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) which was set in a wintery Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of renegade Special Forces soldiers seek to get back an infamous South American general. Excellent box office returns demanded another sequel Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), this time co-starring Samuel L. Jackson as a cynical Harlem shop owner who has been sucked into helping McClane during a terrorist attack campaign on a scorching day in New York.
