Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30, 1977. American electro house music producer D.J., and record producer Steve Aoki is his stage name. Music executive. He's the 3rd son of Chizuru Kobayashi & Rocky Aoki. His father, a former wrestler, was also the co-founder of the restaurant chain Benihana. He has two older brothers, Kana (sometimes called Grace) and Kevin (owner Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister's model and actress Devon Aoki. The family was raised in Newport Beach, California and graduated from Newport Harbor High School, in which he was a part of the club that played varsity badminton. After finishing his studies at UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts, was enrolled at UC Santa Barbara. He graduated with two bachelor's degrees: one in feminist studies, and the one in Sociology. He was a student at the college who produced records by himself and staged underground performances in his Biko area at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue in the time that the apartment was known as The Pickle Patch. He was active in student activism and established the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. By his early 20s, he was running his own record label, which he named Dim Mak, a reference to his hero from his childhood, Bruce Lee. He came out with I'm IN THE HOUSE, a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq-alter ego of will.i.am. The track hit the top spot at No. 29 on the U.K. singles chart in its debut week. It was ranked among the top 5 on both the U.K. Indie Chart & U.K. Dance Chart. The track was featured on the MTV series Jersey Shore. It also made an appearance in Piranha the feature film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May 2010 interview with HitQuarters, Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter confirmed that he as well as Rivers Cuomo had just worked on an album. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the top-grossing dancer in North America from tours. His collaborations with artists include Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici and Fall Out Boy. He is famous for remixing artists such as Kid Cudi.
