Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell
rose to fame as a part of the cast of 'Saturday Night Live,' before appearing
in such big-screen comedy films as 'Elf"Anchorman," and 'Talladega
Nights.' Born in 1967 in Irvine, California, Will Ferrell started his career in
comedy as a member of the improv group from Los Angeles known as the
Groundlings. After his successful seven-year tenure as a part of Saturday Night
Live, he became one of the movie industry's top comedic drawcards with
off-color successes such as Old School (2003) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron
Burgundy (2004). Ferrell was also co-founder of the streaming site Funny or Die
and enjoyed his success as a voice actor in animated films such as Megamind
(2010). John William Ferrell, born on July 16, 1967, in Irvine, California. The
oldest child of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell and teacher Kay
Ferrell, Will was--by his own admission--not the class clown as when he was a
student at University High School. He was calm and stoic and he opted to be a football
player and set a school record for the most field goals made. In the more
comfortable living space of his suburban residence, Ferrell displayed little of
the outrageous, humorous exclamations that would later define his career. In an
interview with Esquire his mother stated Ferrell was "very gentle, and
very calm." "You aren't you old enough to remember those Matchbox
cars?" Will would line up his Matchbox cars on his own and be extremely
happy. You'd ask "Do you want to visit Disneyland today?" or "You
want your cars lined up?" and he'd have to think about it. Ferrell was not
a perfect straight man, but that's not to suggest he wasn't. In his daily
announcements through the PA system, a glimpse of his comedy skills was
revealed every day at high school. Ferrell earned his degree from the
University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 1986. He was a member of the
Delta Tau fraternity, and was pursuing a degree in sports journalism.
