Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was conceived on the
17th of November 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is
a nurse, along with Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture
movers. She is Englishas well as Welsh- -, Irishand Scottish. Rachel began her
acting career at the age of 13 and by 13 was appearing in Shakespearean
productions in summer theater camps. She then went on to graduate with
distinction with an honors BFA degree in theater from York University.
Following her TV debut in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, Rachel
starred in Canadian television's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy drama
follows the struggles of Shakespearean theater groups. She was awarded a Gemini
Award for her performance in 2003. The role she played in Mean Girls (2004) as
Regina George instantly landed her on the Hollywood's hot list of promising
young actors. Following that film she was cast alongside Ryan Gosling as the
romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004).
The Notebook was a huge success at the box office , and was the most loved
romantic comedy for an audience of young people. Following filming, McAdams and
Gosling became intimate and started dating by the middle of 2007. McAdams was
then able to showcase her talents onscreen with the manic comedy Wedding
Crashers (2005), the action thriller Red Eye (2005), and the holiday-themed
drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams then began exploring the world of
independent cinema with Married Life (2007), that debuted at the Toronto Film
Festival and also featured Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson.
The role she played in the war drama The Lucky Ones (2007) as well as the
newspaper thriller State of Play (2009) and the romantic The Time Traveler's
Wife (2009) was followed by her role with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy
Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams portrayed
the plucky producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's
fiancee, who was a materialist in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then
returned to the romantic drama genre in The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum.
McAdams also appears alongside Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder
(2012) and also alongside Noomi Rapace in Brian De Palma's thriller Passion
(2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the
Year" Award and the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year" at the
Hollywood Film Awards
